DEPLOYMENT SERVICES Separation and Reunion Programs The Separation and Reunion Program offers many group information sessions and workshops for adults and children such as: "How to get through a Deployment", "Coping with Deployment Stress", "How to Re-integrate in a Positive Way", as well as holiday parties, children's pizza parties, etc. For full details and to register, please call one of the Deployment Support Team members or visit our Events Calendar. Events run at different times throughout the year, in the daytime, evening and occasional weekends, with a minimum of five participants. All of these sessions are informative and a great opportunity to participate in social events, have a bit of fun, and meet other families who are also experiencing a prolonged separation. Unless otherwise noted, all programs are offered at the TMFRC location and are free of charge (sometimes we need a deposit or must charge for materials). There is also free parking and arrangements can be made for casual child care.

The main purpose of the Warm Heart Line is to ensure that families of CF members remain connected to base and community resources and services during separations of 30 days or more due to operational demands. The Warm Heart Line is run by staff and specially-trained volunteers. It is not a counselling service. The role is to offer a friendly voice and a listening ear. All contacts are strictly confidential. Pre-Deployment & Reunion Packages: When the MFRC receives the Family Deployment Contact Form, an information package will be sent to the person indicated on the form. The package includes a information on preparing for deployment, preparing for reunion, Mission Information Line, emergency childcare, Canadian Forces Member Assistance Program, Operational Stress Injury Social Support, Veterans Affairs Canada, tips for mailing care packages and more. Pre-Deployment & Reunion Information Sessions: These sessions are available for family members of a CF member who will be separated for a long period of time. These information sessions will look at the cycle of deployment and reunion. We will discuss common reactions and ways of coping while your loved one is away and preparing for homecoming and what to expect after a long deployment. Check with the office frequently for the upcoming days and times. Visit our Events Calendar to see what sessions are coming up next. Deployment Mentor Program: This new program matches people who have lived through a deployment with those who are experiencing it for the first time. The mentor provides practical support and a friendly ear to people who are dealing with the separation or reunion of a loved one. Individual Counselling: Support counselling can be arranged for those who may need some extra support during a difficult time. All sessions are geared towards teaching self-care and coping strategies and are completely confidential. These can be done in person and over the phone. Contact Alison Tweedy, Deployment Coordinator at 416-633-6200 ext. 4330 or tweedy.a@forces.gc.ca for details. Deployed Family Support Groups: Support groups are set up for family and friends who would like to meet with others who are experiencing or have experienced the deployment of a loved one. Specialized topics - including coping skills and self-care - will be arranged depending on interest. Support groups are held in Toronto, Oshawa, Brampton... wherever the need exists.
